Plagiarism Policy

The British Journal of Accounting, Finance, and Business Management (BJAFBM) maintains a strict policy against all forms of plagiarism. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ensuring the originality of the work we publish.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of using someone else's work, ideas, or words without proper acknowledgment. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct copying of text from another source without citation.

  • Paraphrasing substantial portions of another work without proper attribution.

  • Presenting another author’s research findings, data, images, or theories as one's own.

  • Submitting previously published work (self-plagiarism) without disclosure and permission.

Screening Process

All submissions to BJAFBM are screened for plagiarism using reliable plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate) before being sent for peer review. Manuscripts with a similarity index above the acceptable threshold (generally 15–20%, excluding references and quoted material) may be returned to the author for revision or rejected outright.

Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected at any stage of the publication process:

  • Before publication: The manuscript will be rejected, and the author(s) will be informed. In cases of serious ethical misconduct, a ban from future submissions may be imposed.

  • After publication: The published article may be retracted, and a retraction notice will be issued. The authors' affiliated institutions may also be notified.

Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their work and must properly cite all sources. By submitting a manuscript to BJAFBM, authors affirm that:

  • The work is original and has not been plagiarized.

  • Proper credit is given to all sources and contributors.

  • The manuscript has not been submitted elsewhere or previously published (unless explicitly stated and permitted).

BJAFBM reserves the right to update this policy as needed to reflect best practices in academic publishing.
